YOM, Kool-aid dye & RL

Sorry to all who have been following my blog. I have had a long string of YUCK in my RL. First off my DH had a horriable head cold for over a week. Then just as my week vacation is drawing near I get said cold. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! And now my DGM is in the hospital with a bad chest cold. And the lights in my kitchen won't work so I have a fridge full of food I had to throw out.

Needless to say the scarf on the needles hasn't been touched. On the up note I have found two new shows to knit too. Man V. Wild & Deadlest Catch. I love them both. I love Discovery channel. My dream job would be to be one of their photograhpers.

Now, on to my lace weight yarn. I used 4 packages of kool-aid cherry. I followed the directions to the letter, and yet my yarn is sorta tie-dye. I love the way it looks don't get me wrong but.... I wanted a solid rich red. Oh, well I will have to get a bigger pot I think.

I joined a Yarn of the Month club and I just got my first four yarn samples. I love all of them. And I know for sure if I can find the yarn on the net for a good price I will be ordering two of them for two holiday presents I have in mind.

That is all for now. I promise to get some knitting done and posted soon.

Dying some Lace

I have a pot of lace weight yarn on the stove right now. Lord knows why as it is hotter then heck in my appartment. But I just had to try it. I am using the knitty tutorial for kool-aid dying. If it comes out good I will be ordering myself a set of real colors.

I will have to look for them on the net knitty has some but only like 20 and I want a wide range of color.

Chan's Contest

So, what gives you hope?

In todays busy life there are few that stop to smell the roses. We are always rushing around from home to work and back home again. I see so many rushing around and not caring about their fellow man or woman for that matter.

Yet, every once in a while you will see a child do something that makes them stand out from the rest of us. They will stop to find joy in the simplest of things. When they stand out side in a snow storm with their little faces turned skyward just to catch that perfect snowflake. They will play with other children no matter their race, color or creed. These little glimpses of innocence are what fill me with hope.

How do you recharge and get energized when you're feeling drained?

When I have had a rough day or week I take my free day and go out into nature and take pictures. I love all the colors and wildlife around me. When I am in the woods or down by the water it seems like that is the only place that exists.

And what is your favorite summer adventure, whether it's a memory or an item on your agenda for this year or both?

My favorite summer memories are the ones I have of my grandpa and I sitting out on the patio in Florida as the thunder storms rolled in. Me sitting on his lap and him telling me all sorts of scary stories.

Some Knitting News

Yesterday I went to Borders to see what new knitting mags were out. I picked up three. Interweave, Vogue, and Simple knits.

I am intreaged by all the lacey patterns. I also bought yarn needles & stitch markers. Working on a swap item and also picked up one of the little somethings to go with what I am making.

Knit Picks

I just ordered my first pair of circulars from knit picks this evening. I ca't wait to get them. Their shipping cost is awesome. I wish I needed $50.00 worth of knitting stuff. But right now I don't.

I will let you all know what I think of the new needles when they get here.

Charmed Knits

This book arieved yesterday. And I really don't know if I am going to keep it or not. There are two or three patterns in this book that are on the net for free. And the cloak pattern that I wanted to try doesn't come in adult size.

Although the book itself is put together nicely. I am going to try a few of the items and let you all know how they come.

Knitting Today

Sounds like a magazine. LOL

But I thought I would recap on my knitting life. I finished my second legwarmer. And on thursday when my LYS is open and I am off from work I will be getting a sewing needle with a big enough eye so I can sew them up. I also started one of my items for the summer dishcloth swap I am in.

I shall let you all know how its going when I am done.

Not much....

Hi all,

I haven't gottne much knitting done lately. Why? Good question. I haven't a clue. I guess I just don't feel like it. Or maybe it is because I have been writting up a storm and can't find the time to get any knitting in.

*SIGH* I promise to have something new soon.
